The first step in improving your plans is knowing where the shortfalls lie. There are many ways to do this. You could share your plan with a broad spectrum of community stakeholders then invite them to a workshop to discuss the gaps they see; you could develop an online questionnaire; you could have your plan analyzed by a professional planning consultant or you could compare your plan with a gap analysis checklist built from the distilled best practices from around the country.
We hope you will choose to pursue several or all of these options. In the Resources area you will find many of the tools you will need to analyze gaps in your current plans. A good first step is the template Gap Analysis Checklist (link will open new window) provided here.
